Centre lauds Kerala govt’s proactive role in promoting startup ecosystem

The central government has lauded the Kerala government’s proactive role in promoting the startup ecosystem. The Union Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, made the remarks during a visit to the state on Tuesday.

Vaishnaw was in Kerala to attend the Startup Yatra event, which was organized by the state government. He interacted with startup founders and entrepreneurs during the event.

“I am impressed by the proactive role that the Kerala government is playing in promoting the startup ecosystem,” said Vaishnaw. “The state has a number of initiatives in place to support startups, and these initiatives are yielding good results.”

He also said that the central government is committed to supporting the startup ecosystem in Kerala. “We are providing financial assistance to startups in the state, and we are also providing them with access to government schemes and programs,” said Vaishnaw.

The Union Minister also visited the Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM) headquarters in Thiruvananthapuram. He interacted with the KSUM team and reviewed the state’s startup ecosystem.

“I am confident that Kerala will emerge as a leading startup destination in the country,” said Vaishnaw. “The state has all the ingredients to become a thriving startup ecosystem.”

The Kerala government has been taking a number of initiatives to promote the startup ecosystem in the state. These initiatives include:

  • The Kerala Startup Mission (KSUM), which is a government-run agency that provides support to startups.
  • The Startup Village, which is a physical space that provides infrastructure and support to startups.
  • The Startup Kerala program, which is a government-funded program that provides financial assistance to startups.

These initiatives have helped to create a supportive environment for startups in Kerala. As a result, the state has seen a significant growth in the number of startups in recent years.

In 2021, Kerala was ranked as the third best state in India for startups by the National Startup Ranking. The state is also home to a number of successful startups, such as Vayam Technologies, Convergys, and Agastya Technologies.

The central government’s support for the startup ecosystem in Kerala is a welcome development. This support will help to further accelerate the growth of the startup ecosystem in the state.
