IIT Delhi to Open Campus in Abu Dhabi, Signs MoU in Presence of PM Modi

New Delhi, India – July 15, 2023 – The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish an IIT Delhi campus in Abu Dhabi.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The campus will be located in Masdar City, a sustainable city development in Abu Dhabi.

The IIT Delhi campus in Abu Dhabi will offer undergraduate and graduate programs in engineering, science, and technology. The campus will also have a research center that will focus on areas of mutual interest to India and the UAE.

“This is a historic moment for IIT Delhi and for India-UAE relations,” said IIT Delhi Director Professor V. Ramgopal Rao. “The IIT Delhi campus in Abu Dhabi will be a symbol of the strong partnership between our two countries.”

“The establishment of the IIT Delhi campus in Abu Dhabi is a significant milestone in our efforts to build a knowledge-based economy,” said ADEK Chairman H.E. Dr. Ali bin Tamim Al Hamli. “The campus will provide our students with the opportunity to learn from some of the best minds in the world.”

The IIT Delhi campus in Abu Dhabi is expected to be operational by 2025. The campus will be a major boost to the education sector in both India and the UAE. It will also help to strengthen the ties between the two countries.
